It is a sad day. We have lost another Archery Club! The Tyee bowmen have decided to call it quits. The club was aparently surrounded by new development so the mebers/owneres decided to limit their liability and close down the club. The property is either sold or in the process of being sold and the club has been disbanded. |

The Issaquah Sportsmen have expressed a genuine interest in incorporating Archery into their club. Since the goal here was to get a legitimate range closer to the Issaquah area I think this makes the most sense. How this will affect the WCA as an organization remains to be seen. I have reviewed The Issaquah Sportsmen’s property and it really only supports a small number of targets or perhaps a flat range. This however is a start. There is DNR property that adjoins their facilities and I will start the process of gaining permission for the usage of that Property. It is about 3 additional Acres but could definitely house a 14 target course. I’m putting together the proposal to the Issaquah Sportsmen board of directors and will keep you posted. I have received a responce from the DNR and they state that an archery range would not support the usage guidlines that were agreed upon when the land was purchased. We will not be allowed to use that property unless some significant changes are made in the management policies of the DNR. |
